Founded in 2020, our company brings together years of experience to serve clients throughout New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. Our leadership’s background in law enforcement, insurance industry and prosecution provides a strong foundation for conducting thorough, ethical, and results-oriented investigations.

Ed is currently the Co-Owner and President for Elite Investigative and Surveillance Group, LLC. He is a Law Enforcement professional with 30 years of investigative experience. He joined the New Jersey State Police in 1988 and in 1995 obtained the rank of Detective when he entered into the Special Investigations Section, Investigations Branch, of the NJ State Police. Over the next several years, he conducted complex and covert investigations and interviews that involved the crimes of narcotics, weapons, and human trafficking, criminal attempt homicide, aggravated assault, auto theft and casino gaming related crimes. Ed has been recognized by the NJ State Police and the NJ Division of Criminal Justice was a subject matter expert in the fields of physical and electronic surveillance and has provided several blocks of instruction involving these fields to NJ State Police Academy attendees. He ultimately obtained the rank of Lieutenant/Acting Captain as the Executive Officer/Interim Section Commander of the Intelligence Section. Ed was responsible for 220 State Police Detectives throughout the state of New Jersey who were assigned to the Narcotic Trafficking Unit, Weapons Trafficking Unit, Crime Suppression Unit, Joint Terrorism Task Force, Cargo Theft Unit, and Witness Relocation Unit. Ed retired from the New Jersey State Police in 2013. Upon his retirement, he joined the Camden County Prosecutor's Office and was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit responsible for investigating all first and second-degree crimes that occurred within Camden County, New Jersey. He also provided investigative assistance to the thirty-seven municipal police departments within Camden County. He received the 2014 New Jersey Attorney General's Award for excellence in investigative initiative and the 2015 Hero Scholarship Meritorious Award for investigative excellence. In September 2015, he resigned from the Camden County Prosecutor's Office to become a member of the Shield Investigative Services team. Ed was the Assistant Vice President of Shield Investigative Services. Ed was responsible for all administrative and operational duties. He was the qualifier for Shield Investigative Services Private Detective Agencies licenses in the State of New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennsylvania. In addition, Ed was the lead investigator on all complex investigations. In 2020, Shield Investigative Services closed due to COVID19. Ed started Elite Investigative and Surveillance Group, LLC with Gus Giovinazzi in 2020.

Gus is currently the Co-Owner and Vice President for Elite Investigative and Surveillance Group, LLC. Gus has over 17 years of law enforcement experience. For over 9 of those years, he was an undercover detective in the Gangs Guns Narcotic Task Force of the Gloucester County Prosecutors Office where he was tasked with enforcing the illicit possession and distribution of narcotics and firearms in the state of New Jersey. He both purchased and posed as a distributor of illicit narcotics in an undercover capacity and was also tasked with targeting street gangs throughout the entire state of NJ. He also served on the Gloucester County Prosecutors Office entry team as both a member and team leader. Throughout his career Gus has conducted thousands of surveillance operations including aerial, GPS and wiretap investigations. He is recognized as an expert witness by the Superior Court of New Jersey in the field of narcotics and was an instructor at the UNIT school (Undercover Narcotics Investigation). Throughout his career Gus has been the recipient of numerous awards and citations as both a uniformed police officer and undercover detective. As a member of Shield Investigative Services, Gus was a Senior Investigator and Field Training Agent. Gus was assigned the title of Operational Supervisor and responsible for all surveillance investigations for Shield Investigative Services. Gus started Elite Investigative and Surveillance Group, LLC with Ed Berwick in 2020.

We are fully licensed in three states — New Jersey Agency License #9711, Delaware Agency License #20-202-A, and Pennsylvania Agency License #CP-23-MD-536-21 — and adhere to all state regulations governing private investigative work.
